Denaton Games have issued a statement saying that “If it ends up not being release[d] in Australia, just pirate it after release. No need to send us any money, just enjoy the game!”, in an email to a fan, later verified by Polygon. This comes an update to news from earlier today, where we learnt that Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, had been refused classification in Australia, effectively banning it from sale.
It’s not difficult to get banned games through semi-legal means in Australia, as was shown with the banning of South Park: Stick Of Truth and Saints Row IV, but those games changed their content so that they would be able to be sold in Australia to some degree. With this statement released, it doesn’t look as if that’ll be happening with Wrong Number.
